San Benito, California's City Hall has installed a kiosk in its lobby to provide residents another way to pay bills.
Users can pay court fines and fees and utility bills with cash, credit or check, according to the Valley Morning Star.
"It is simple to use, much like an ATM. It can be used to pay your water bill, or a court fine, among other payment features," City Manager Manuel Lara said in the article. "Place the barcode on your postcard bill against the bill scanner; enter your last name and phone number; select type of payment, cash, check, credit card or debit card; insert cash, check, credit card or debit card; wait for printed receipt; and you are done."
So far, the community is responding positively to the changes, Lara said.
